How to make a faded amethyst darker again?

My mom recently bought me an amethyst ring & I found out that it fades when exposed to sunlight. The thing is I live where the sun shines (very brightly) every single day. Could someone help me please.. so that I'll noe what to do if it fades.

1. Has it faded already? I have Amethyst jewelry that is over 100 years old and nothing has faded. If your stone does indeed fade, there is nothing you can do to reverse that.
