I cannot open the demon door in bloodstone in fable 2?

The door just keeps saying 'end the tune in stye', 'hit that final note' etc... I just keep playing and I don't get any expression bar or anything? I just keep playing and nothing happens...

1. stop playing the freaking lute!
2. Hold the play button and then stop the bar in the middle of the green section to perform a perfect expression.
