How to use amethyst crystals?

I bought this amethyst crystal recently. I've heard it could help you develop psychic abilities. But when I meditated with it, nothing happened. At least, I don't think it did. Do you have any ideas on how I can use it to gain this type of benefit?

1. the universe doesn't bend to our wants, wishes, or misconceptions. there is no scientific evidence to support the idea of mental powers like psychic abilities, nor any evidence that there is something special about crystals that can effect your body at a distance and outside your stomach, double so for giving you "psychic abilities" most psychic abilities can be easily explained as parlor tricks, for instance a psychic reading is often done by "cold reading" in which the "psychic" give a lot of vague, generalized information that can apply to anyone, also they sometimes do a lot of guessing that customers tend to forget about after the fact and only remember the guess that they got right.
