WoW - I have a "Bloodstone Band" ring with a red socket how do I add my Ruby to the socket?

The Ruby is a "Bright Cardinal Ruby" it says it matches a red socket which I have free on my "Bloodstone" Band"

1. if i remember right you have to shift right click and that should bring up a window with open slots at the bottom, you just drag and drop the gem from your bag, also you have to make sure the gem is cut first. the shift right click might be wrong but im about 75% sure thats what it is.
2. Yeah, Shift + Right click, then drop it in.. But it is important to note that you don't have to put a red gem in it just because it is a red socket- you can mix and match any gem and socket colour you like.. You do however get the socket bonus if the colours match (red, orange, or purple gems would activate the bonus in that particular item) And keep in mind you may want a cheaper gem in a lvl 70 item as unfortunately you can't take the gem out of the socket out when you're done with it ;)
