Does -black- amethyst have any specific significance/meaning? How is it different than plain amethyst?

Amethyst stands for sobriety and chastity, yes? What about black amethyst?

2. Black Amethyst Physical Removes built up radiation. Increases physical strength. Emotional Soothes and calms emotional stress. Spiritual Opens the 3rd eye to the divine. Very visual and creative. Chakra Third Eye I must admit that I have never heard of black amethyst so if im not mistaken in my thinking, it is the same thing as amethyst but appear black because of the dark coloring in it. Becareful to not run into glass because there is a lot of stones that are passed as actual semi-precious but are just glass. Blessings, Shadow
3. How is it different than plain amethyst? It's black. End of reality. The rest is fantasy.
4. Black quartz is called smokey quartz. Purple quartz is called amethyst. The shade of amethyst can vary from pale violet to very dark purple, perhaps making it appear to be almost black. Either way, any meaning assigned to crystals is just that, assigned, usually by mineral dealers looking to make a buck, or by new age types who think they have psychic abilities. And quartz does not "remove built up radiation". For example, if you have radiation in your house due to radon, quartz isn't going to help you.
